Yeah, I'm goin' to Jackson, Look out Jackson town.
Visiting Jackson for the first time today. Immediately, Johnny Cash lyrics pop into my head. I’m so excited to see the area; only a 2 hour drive from where I am now. It’ll be a short trip, but I know we plan on doing some shopping, grabbing a nice dinner, etc. SO many things I want to see: Eudora Welty house, Old Capitol Museum, LeFleur’s Bluff State Park, the zoo…....

I recently started a very challenging adventure in my life: I am teaching. I am teaching summer school for kids who need to go to the 7th grade; kids who, I recently discovered, lack the knowledge to solve simple long-division problems. Kids who still have trouble with multiplication, do not know what a percent is, and some who do not know the units of length. This past week, I taught every day...
